Words are, the 'Thor' actor has been tapped to play porn magazine mogul Paul Raymond in the biopic to be written by the baron's own son Howard Raymond.
After playing villainous Loki in "The Avengers", Tom Hiddleston could end up starring as a porn baron in his upcoming film. Rumor has it, the "Thor" actor has been tapped to play adult magazine mogul Paul Raymond in a biopic called "The King of Soho".
The report was broken by Daily Mail, which also claimed that Paul's son Howard Raymond will write the script. "You can't imagine how delighted I am by this - chuffed to bits," so Howard told the tabloid. "We've waited a long time to get the right person and in Tom we finally have. It's a difficult role, not because he is playing my father but because he is in every scene in the film."
Howard explained further, "We have a great script and some time in the next year we will be going into production." Tom's representative has yet to release an official statement regarding the report, but it was said that the "War Horse" actor is set to play both younger and older version of Paul Raymond.
Paul Raymond himself is the man behind such soft-porn magazines as Men Only, Escort, Club International and Mayfair among others. In 1992, Paul Raymond replaced the Duke of Westminster as Britain's richest man.
"The King of Soho" has a rival project of the same title with Steve Coogan tackling the lead character and Michael Winterbottom being tapped to direct. However, Howard called his lawyer to dismiss the competitor's production. Calling the rival film a "spoof," Howard said, "We call call it Carry On Up Old Compton Street."
After starring in "The Avengers", Tom Hiddleston will reprise his role as Loki in "Thor 2". His other upcoming projects include crime thriller "Black Wings Has My Angel" and romantic vampire drama "Only Lovers Left Alive".
