Admitting that he's interested to make a movie with Lohan, the 'To Rome with Love' helmer says, 'She's a very gifted girl and I would not hesitate if I had something for her.'

AceShowbiz - Though he has been working with various A-list actors throughout his career, Woody Allen opened up that he's strongly interested in casting none other than Lindsay Lohan in his film. The "Midnight in Paris" helmer also admitted that he once hoped to work with the late Princess Diana in his big screen project.

When attending the premiere of "To Rome with Love" at the L.A. Film Festival on Thursday, June 14, Allen told Access Hollywood, "I wouldn't hesitate to use [Lindsay] in a movie because she's a very talented girl." The Oscar winner admitted that he doesn't worry about Lohan's reputation as a troubled actress.

"That would not concern me, no," he claimed. "I mean, if there was some reason that I couldn't, that would be a different story, some legal reason, but it would not concern me personally, no. I think she'd be just fine and she'd do a great job."

Back in May, Allen and Lohan sparked online speculations that they would do a movie together after they were spotted having dinner in New York. Responding to the rumor, the actor-turned-filmmaker explained that the dinner was nothing but a casual occasion. "That was a social dinner, but as I said, she's a very gifted girl and I would not hesitate if I had something for her," he said. "I'd certainly call her."

During the chat, Allen also shared that he once wished to work with Prince Diana. "We wanted to ask her to do something," he recalled. "I needed, you know, a classy woman... it was a small role. It would have been within her capacity to handle it and we thought of her."

Allen's "To Rome with Love" will be released in limited U.S. theaters on June 22. In addition to himself, the drama stars Alec Baldwin, Penelope Cruz, Jesse Eisenberg, Greta Gerwig, Ellen Page and Judy Davis.

As for Lohan, the actress has recently been tapped to join indie sexual thriller film "The Canyons", where she will star opposite adult film actor James Deen. She's currently also busy filming Lifetime TV movie "Liz & Dick", where she plays the late Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor.
