'Gone with the Wind' Actress Ann Rutherford Died at 94


The classic pictures actress passed away in her Beverly Hills home on Monday after having heart problems.

Ann Rutherford, Scarlett O'Hara's youngest sister in "Gone With the Wind", has died at the age of 94. She passed away on Monday, June 11 evening in her Beverly Hills home due to heart problems. A close friend actress Anne Jeffreys told LA Times that Rutherford's health has been declining over the years.

Born on November 2, 1920, Rutherford stopped acting in the 1950s before making a couple of guests appearances in 1970s. She married David May and had one daughter with him but they divorced. She then married producer William Dozier until his death in 1991. Rutherford is survived by her daughter and two grandsons.

Rutherford's death means there's only one major star from "Gone With the Wind" who is still alive. Olivia de Havilland, who plays Melanie, will turn 96 on July 1.

Rutherford is also famous for playing Andy Hardy's girlfriend Polly Benedict in the "Andy Hardy" series.
