AceShowbiz - In addition to featuring live performances by Justin Bieber and Kelly Clarkson, 2012 Billboard Music Awards was made merry by Katy Perry and Carrie Underwood. The former showcased her new single "Wide Awake", while the latter sang the title track of her newly-released album "Blown Away".
Katy made a grand entrance by sitting on a white sheet high above stage in a dreamy set. Wearing an all-white attire, she slowly descended from the ceiling but never landed on the stage until the end of the performance. Accompanied by Cirque du Soleil-type dancers, she was assisted by a male dancer wearing a white tux.
Underwood, meanwhile, catered the crowd in a less elaborate set. Regardless, she still managed to engaged the audience and blew them away with her stand-out vocal. Introduced by fellow country music singer Luke Bryan, she performed on the stage in a red long dress and took the stand in front of wind machines.
Ealier in the evening, Perry was presented Spotlight Award by Lisa Marie Presley. "This is cool! They told me the only other person who's received this award is Michael Jackson, so I feel incredibly honoured to be in the same category - although I don't compare at all!" so she gushed.
