Collecting 8 nods each, 'Hunger Games' and 'Bridesmaids' are set to compete in the Movie of the Year category along with 'Deathly Hallow II', 'Breaking Dawn I' and 'The Help'.

AceShowbiz - The nominees for the 21st Annual MTV Movie Awards have been unveiled on Monday, April 30. Leading the pack are famous novel-adapted film "The Hunger Games" and adult comedy pic "Bridesmaids" with eight nods apiece.
Both movies are set to compete in the Movie of the Year category along with such big films as "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part II", "The Help" and "The Twilight Saga's Breaking Dawn Part I".
Meanwhile, those who are competing in the Best Male Performance category are such actors as Josh Hutcherson ("The Hunger Games"), Daniel Radcliffe ("Deathly Hallows II"), Joseph Gordon-Levitt ("50/50"), Ryan Gosling ("Drive") and Channing Tatum ("The Vow").
As for the Best Female Performance, the likes of Jennifer Lawrence ("The Hunger Games"), Kristen Wiig ("Bridesmaids"), Emma Stone ("Crazy, Stupid, Love."), Emma Watson ("Deathly Hallows II") and Rooney Mara ("The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (2011)") are all competing in the category.
For this year, none of the lead actors in "Breaking Dawn I" gets nominated in Best Male and Female Performance. Though so, Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart are up for Best Kiss category, competing with other lead couples in such films as "The Vow", "Deathly Hallows II", "Crazy, Stupid, Love." and "The Hunger Games".
MTV announced the nominees in 12 categories, including six new ones such as "Best On-Screen Dirtbag" and "Best Gut-Wrenching Performance." This year, the nominees were selected by a panel of actors, producers, agents and industry tastemakers instead of via online vote from the public.
The 2012 MTV Movie Awards will be held on June 3 at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City. Online fan vote will open starting Tuesday at 8 A.M. ET.
