The original singer of 'Somebody That I Used to Know' says, 'This xylophone hook in my song -- it's kind of dinky not just in the cover version but the original song.'

AceShowbiz - Gotye clarifies his negative comment about "Glee" cover of "Somebody That I Used to Know". The Belgian-Australian singer previously slammed the show for making his song sound "dinky and wrong," but then he cleared it up by insisting that the "dinky" remark he made was not just meant for the cover version but for the original song as well.

"The nature of using reverb and space in a recording can change your perception of how a sound appeals to you," he explained at a private concert for Los Angeles alt-rock station 98.7 held at Hollywood's Sayers Club on Monday, April 23. "This xylophone hook in my song -- it's kind of dinky not just in the cover version but the original song."

In front of the crowd which included Rumer Willis, Kris Allen and Audrina Patridge, Gotye managed to mockingly say as quoted by The Hollywood Reporter, "That becomes the Glee cover I hated and Darren Criss is an a**hole." He, however, was quick to add, "I thought it was really clever to transpose the song to two guys ... It was a great idea."

Darren, who covered the song with his on-screen brother Matthew Bomer, hasn't responded to any of Gotye's statements, but the actor had already discussed the "Somebody That I Used to Know" cover on Twitter. "Big thanks to @Gotye for lending us his incredible music," he wrote. "I'm no Kimbra, but I did my best!" He referred to Gotye's female featured guest in the song.
