Randy Jackson on 'American Idol' Shocking Results: It Happens Every Season

Trying to explain why such great singer like Jessica Sanchez got the lowest vote on the April 12 show, Randy says, 'What happens...is people forget to vote and they think their favorites are safe.'

Though admitting he was shocked by the results on "American Idol" Thursday, April 12, Randy Jackson has noticed that it's something that would happen at least once in every season of the show. Speaking to the press after the "crazy" night, the judge who has joined the reality series since season 1 said, "I think every season it happens every time."

Offering an explanation why greats singers like Jessica Sanchez, Joshua Ledet and Elise Testone could land on the bottom three, Randy shared, "What I think what happens, honestly, is people forget to vote and they think their favorites are safe. I mean you saw that bottom three. Oh my god, it's like 'What's going on?' "

On the other hand, his fellow judge Steven Tyler believed that a song choice plays an important factor in determining the results. "They're all one song away [from elimination], because this is a game show," the rocker gushed. "It's a reality show where America's vote is on if they don't sing [well]. It's because they don't have a good song. It doesn't mean they can't sing. [Jessica] is as good as it gets and she's 16."

Denying that the judges had made a decision on whom they would save before the show went live, Randy said, "We don't know. We find out when you find out." The record producer insisted, "That's why we were shocked tonight. We were literally shocked. We were like 'What?!' I think the save is for moments like these."

Echoing Randy's statement, Steven stated, "When we saw all three, that's why I said, 'We're saving them.' Because this is crazy, which begs the question, Who wouldn't I have on the other side? But we're not going there."

Asked whether the judges would still use their save card if it were Joshua or Elise who got the lowest vote, Randy dodged the question and simply said, "Probably."

On the latest results show, the judges used their "save" privilege to keep Jessica on the singing competition after she got the lowest vote from America. Jennifer Lopez ran onto the stage and snapped the mic from Jessica toward the end of her sing-for-life performance, while Randy shouted, "We are saving Jessica without any doubt," providing a dramatic ending.

Mr Randy Jackson, I expect nothing less than an apology to the other contestants feeling so unimportant and practically telling them THEY have picked the winner. As a voter, I deserve an apology too. My vote counts and just threw it out. Shame on all three of you has-beens.

I am not an American but I watch the show and so far with the results of eliminating the best, I would say Americans are truly crazy. I know Jessica is a threat to all contensstans and thei supporters so they are taking an easy way out letting the best go first.. Jess will stay the best and pray to God that if she does not get to the finals someone out there who truly knows talent notice her and give her the best deal ever.

Randy was wrong to announce that jessica was the BEST voice in America while the others who were voted by america looked on... tsk tsk Randy!!

Randy was extremely disrespecful of the other 6 finalists on Thursday night. What a horrible show of favoritism to say that one finalist is "the best" and, as a matter of fact, how awkward for the others who were forced to stand in the background while the unsettling "display" of affection toward Jessica by all 3 judges was taking place. Shame on the American Idol judges for having poor judgment concerning your own conduct! Aren't you there to mentor and encourage everyone impartially? You owe the other finalists a much-deserved apology, and I certainly hope they get one at the beginning of the show next Wednesday night!

    Apr 13, 2012

Randy was extremely rude and basically made the contestants who were voted "best" feel "less than". I thought judges were to be impartial.

Randy was so wrong with his statement about Jessica, and Steven and JLO were wrong to run up on stage and cottle her like a baby-America knows what their doing, WE VOTE- NOT YOU!!We made our choice, live with it!! You announced to America, We don't know anything, I say we vote you 3 off!! You need to apologize to the other contestants and to America for your statements last night!!The show is loosing credibility because of you!
