Also teased in the newly unveiled trailer is Sookie digging a grave, Jessica getting cozy with a new man, and Jason getting threatened by Rev. Steve Newlin.
Before "Game of Thrones" debuted its second season this Sunday, April 1, "True Blood" got the spotlight on HBO with the release of a new trailer for season 5. Shared in the new promo video is the arrival of some new characters, including a woman vampire who seemingly will join forces with Eric and Bill.
Sookie is digging a grave in the opening scene, while she is taking a shower in another scene. As for the new couple alerts, Jessica is seen hooking up with a man other than Hoyt and Jason, while Eric is kissing a woman, who doesn't look like Sookie.
Rev. Steve Newlin is returning, only to bring fear in Jason's life. Additionally, there are glimpses of someone getting dragged and an explosion, which are all set to a voiceover of an assumed Authority member who says, "So as the beetle nourishes the lark, so shall human nourish vampire."
"True Blood" season 5 will premiere this June. "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" alum Christopher Meloni is cast for a regular role of "an ancient, powerful vampire who holds the fate of Bill and Eric in his hands."
