After the big revelation in the March 15 episode of "The Vampire Diaries", Alaric's condition will grow more concerns from Mystic Falls' residents in the next outing. In a preview released for "Break on Through", Elena is seen telling someone on the phone that something terrible has happened to the vampire hunter.
Alaric is featured lying on a medical equipment, possibly to get his brain scanned. In another scene, the history teacher scares a woman as he chases after her and yells to her, while Meredith is heard shouting, "This isn't you Alaric."
On the other hand, Damon will reunite with Sage a century after their first encounter. The older Salvatore is surprised to learn the reason of Sage's return, but is pleased by her unusual method which will help him figure out what Rebekah is up to. Damon will have a steamy moment with each of the girls.
Additionally, when Damon informs Elena of Stefan's latest struggles, she reaches out to Stefan to help her save a friend in danger, in hopes that it will help bring Stefan even closer to his humanity. Later, when Damon discovers a new secret weapon, he lets Stefan in on the news.
"Vampire Diaries" will return with the new episode on Thursday, March 22 at 8/7c on The CW.
Recently at the PaleyFest, executive producer Julie Plec talked about the latest twist in which [SPOILER ALERT!] Alaric was revealed as the serial killer in Mystic Falls. "There's a big journey for Alaric. [It's] a big journey for Elena. Stefan and everybody are going to be at the center of this storyline," she said.
"There's something really beautiful about this ring being responsible for a darkness to take hold," she went on noting. "He tried to walk out the [Gilbert] house in the first episode of the season and in the second episode. He tried to refuse the ring, but Elena asked him to take it back to be part of her family. Now there's consequence to that."
On how his character is going to be involved in Alaric's problem, Paul Wesley shared, "Stefan's definitely going to be a part of exorcising the demons out of him." As for Jeremy who wears a ring similar to the one responsible for the change in Alaric's behavior, Plec teased, "It definitely has implications for Jeremy."
"Jeremy is now widely unprotected," she continued explaining. "So Elena, who's a character all about saving and protecting the ones she holds the most dear, now has to deal with her guardian in a difficult place and potentially her brother."
