New 'Hunger Games' Clip: President Snow Gives Seneca Crane Warning About Hope

Presenting a scene that is not included in Suzanne Collins' bestselling novel, the snippet sees the President and the gamemaker conferring about the Capitol's strategy for the Hunger Games.

"The Hunger Games" has unveiled a fresh clip that gives a look at a private conversation between President Snow and Seneca Crane. The scene, which is not featured in Suzanne Collins' book that tells the story from Katniss Everdeen's point of view, sees the white bearded President and the gamemaker discussing the strategy that the Capitol shall apply to the annual deadly games.

After asking Seneca about why there is a winner in the Hunger Games, President Snow goes on explaining about the power of "Hope." He tells the black haired man while cutting a white rose, "Hope; it is the only thing stronger than fear. A little hope is effective, a lot of hope is dangerous. Spark is fine, as long as it's contained. So, contain it."

Seneca is one of the gamemakers of The Hunger Games, an annual live-televised event sponsored by the Panem government. At the 74th edition of the games, Katniss Everdeen replaces her sister Prim, who is originally picked as the female Tribute from District 12. Also selected from the mining district is Peeta Mellark, a baker's son who once gave Katniss bread when her family was starving.

Pitted against highly-trained competitors who have prepared for these games their entire lives, Katniss is forced to rely upon her sharp instincts as well as the mentorship of drunken former victor Haymitch Abernathy to survive in the game and go back home to District 12 alive.

Directed by Gary Ross, "The Hunger Games" is set to open wide in the U.S. on March 23. Portraying President Snow and Seneca Crane are Donald Shuterland and Wes Bentley respectively. Jennifer Lawrence stars as Katniss and Josh Hutcherson as Peeta. They are joined by Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks and Lenny Kravitz.
