"Saturday Night Live" is embracing boyband fever which currently sweeps the United States. Next month, audience on the variety show is going to be treated to performances by one of today's U.K. hot boybands One Direction.
Harry Styles and his pals are scheduled to perform on April 7 with "Modern Family" actress Sofia Vergara serving as a host. The Gloria Delgado-Pritchett depicter confirmed the gig on Twitter, tweeting, "Yes!! Very exited!!"
The news came hot on heels of One Direction's notable mark on Billboard Hot 100. They climbed up to No. 28 on the U.S. single chart with their single "What Makes You Beautiful". Back then, it marked the highest debut for any U.K. act since Jimmy Ray landed at No. 26 fourteen years ago.
The boyband fever continued to hit the nation when their peers from The Wanted charted higher by climbing up to No. 4 on Hot 100. Nathan Sykes and his friends broke the top 5 list through their catchy single "Glad You Came".
Before heading to "SNL", One Direction are going to rock "Today" show on March 12. They have also been tapped to sing at the upcoming Nickelodeon's 25th Annual Kids' Choice Awards which will take place at USC's Galen Center in Los Angeles on March 31.
The band who claimed their fame after finishing third on "The X Factor" season 7 are set to release their debut album "Up All Night" in the United States on March 13. They will additionally appear on an upcoming episode of Nickelodeon's "iCarly".
