"American Idol" has sent home one of the finalists from the Top 13. As announced by Ryan Seacrest on the Wednesday, March 7 performance show, the judges determined which one of the bottom guy and the bottom girl who would be eliminated in this first live results show of season 11.

Based on fans votes, Elise Testone, Shannon Magraine and Erika Van Pelt were the bottom three girls, while Jermaine Jones, Joshua Ledet and Jeremy Rosado were the bottom three guys. Mary J. Blige took the stage to perform "Why" before the bottom two contestants were revealed.

After Erika, Joshua, Jermaine and Shannon were declared safe, the judges had to choose between Jeremy and Elise. In the end, Jennifer Lopez gave the bad news that they decided to let go Jeremy as she said, "We're gonna save Elise."

In between the result announcements, last season's runner-up Lauren Alaina catered the audience with her rendition of "Georgia Peaches". She sat among the top 13 finalists, taking a spot between Colton Dixon and Phillip Phillips, the latter of which was rushed to hospital earlier on Thursday due to severe abdominal pain.
