Zoe Saldana Could Be Christian Bale's Ex-Wife in 'Out of the Furnace'

The Neytiri of 'Avatar' is in talks to star as a waitress who marries a town sheriff in the upcoming revenge drama, which will be directed and written by 'Crazy Heart' helmer Scott Cooper.

AceShowbiz - Zoe Saldana is close to secure a role in another potential high-profile movie project. The New Jersey-born actress is in negotiations to join "The Dark Knight" actor, Christian Bale, in a revenge drama called "Out of the Furnace", which is developed at Relativity Media.

According to Variety, the Neytiri depicter in "Avatar" is expected to star as Bale's ex-wife who is a waitress now married to a town's sheriff. The film is still looking for actors to play Bale's uncle and younger brother.

Words are, Robert Duvall is eyed to play the uncle, while Casey Affleck is the frontrunner to portray the brother. Nonetheless, there haven't been any formal offers being made for the two actors.

"Out of the Furnace" is a dark drama set in 1986 Indiana. The protagonist is Slim, a newly freed man who wants to follow through on his promise to marry his long-suffering girlfriend. However, when he discovers his brother has been murdered after getting involved in a gambling racket, his goals change and he avenges the murder.

"Crazy Heart" helmer Scott Cooper serves as the director and writer for the upcoing film. Ridley Scott and brother Tony team up with Leonardo DiCaprio and Brooklyn Weaver to produce the film. The producing team aims to start filming in late spring though Relativity hasn't greenlighted the project.

As for Saldana, the "Takers" star has recently starred in female-centric action "Colombiana" and Sundance drama "The Words". The 33-year-old actress is currently busy working on J.J. Abrams' untitled Star Trek sequel, reprising her role as Nyota Uhura.
