The other nominees for the upcoming Woodie Awards include the likes of Chris Brown, Rihanna, J. Cole, Flo Rida and Foster the People.

AceShowbiz - In anticipation of the upcoming South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, nominees for 2012 mtvU Woodie Awards are announced. Jay-Z, Kanye West and Lana Del Rey, along with Chris Brown, Rihanna and J. Cole, score a nod each.

Both Jigga and Yeezy are nominated for Performing Woodie. To win the award, the Throne duo has to beat the likes of Alabama Shakes, The Black Keys, Mac Miller, Skrillex and Swedish House Mafia.

Del Rey is a contender for Breaking Woodie. The Internet sensation is up against Fun., Kendrick Lamar, Meek Mill, Machine Gun Kelly, T. Mills, The Weeknd and many other acts.

Breezy and Riri are pitted against each other in EDM Effect Woodie. In addition to facing off each other, they also have to compete with Flo Rida, Flux Pavilion, Martin Solveig and Laidback Luke.

Cole, meanwhile, gets a nod for Woodie of the Year. The 2012 Grammy Best New Artist nominee is battling The Black Keys, Mac Miller, Foster the People, Frank Ocean and another 2012 Grammy new artist contender Skrillex.

This year, mtvU Woodie Awards will become a daylong festival at the SXSW. The festivity will begin March 15 with a host of live performances from artists who will be announced in the coming weeks. It will culminate with a ceremony to hand out trophies to its winners.
