Rounding up the list of movies that unveiled their Super Bowl spots on Sunday, February 5, "21 Jump Street" and "Safe House" also debuted their promo videos during the annual football championship event. While the ad for the former film is studded with hilarious scenes, the sneak peek for the latter one is jam-packed with high-octane actions.
The Super Bowl ad for "21 Jump Street" presents funny scenes, including the one that sees Jonah Hill squeezing an old lady's mouth when she nearly uncovers the fact that he is an undercover police. It additionally shows Hill and Channing Tatum feeling awkward when being surrounded by high school students' antics.
The remake of Johnny Depp's 1980s hit TV show is due to open wide in the U.S. on March 16, four days after it is premiered at the 2012 South by Southwest Film Conference and Festival. The story is about two cops who are sent to do undercover work in high schools and colleges to catch troubled youths.
"Safe House" Super Bowl commercial, meanwhile, is loaded with plenty of action scenes featuring Denzel Washington and Ryan Reynolds. More scenes involving intense battle on the city streets and Washington showing off his martial art skills are included in the short sneak peek.
To open wide in the U.S. on February 10, the action film centers on a young housesitter of a CIA-run safe house. The housesitter, played by Reynolds, must help the criminal, played by Washington, who's being hidden in the safe house as they flee to another secure facility when the first house is destroyed by villains who want them dead.
In addition to "21 Jump Streets" and "Safe House", other movies that have their promos aired during Super Bowl telecast were "G.I. Joe Retaliation", "The Dictator", "The Hunger Games", "The Avengers", "Battleship", "John Carter", "The Lorax" as well as "Act of Valor".
