After having its special screenings in several countries, "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island" finally got its premiere in Hollywood on Thursday night, February 2. Stealing the limelight on the red carpet at the Grauman's Chinese Theatre was lead actress Vanessa Hudgens, who became the belle of the ball with her luxurious look.
The 23-year-old former Disney darling showed off her trim figure in a glamorous sunny tube dress by Maria Lucia Hohan. She finished off her stunning look with hoop earrings, bangles and matching miniaudiere. While striking a pose for the photographers, she was accompanied by boyfriend Austin Butler, who looked dapper in a two-piece gray suit.
Hudgens' co-star Josh Hutcherson was also present at the special screening event. Arriving together with his beloved mother, the Peeta Mellark of "The Hunger Games" opted to go with a neat suit completed with a striped tie. He was joined by Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, who oozed masculinity in a tieless three-piece black suit.
Other cast members spotted on the red carpet were Kristin Davis and Luiz Guzman. Davis, who plays Hutcherson's mom in the film, looked gorgeous in a purple mini tube dress with ribbon detail on the front. Guzman, who plays Hudgens' dad, opted for a more casual look by rocking a floral Hawaiian shirt that he paired with a brown jacket.
The premiere event was additionally attended by a number of famous stars. Among the celebrity guests spotted on the red carpet were Hudgens' best friend Ashley Tisdale who dazzled in pink frock, "Sherlock Holmes" star Rachel McAdams who stunned in a flowery maxi blue skirt, and Metallica's bassist Rob Trujillo who came along with his family.
In this sequel of 2008's "Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D", Hutcherson returns as Sean while Hudgens plays tour guide Kailani. They begin their adventurous journey after Sean receives a coded distress from a mysterious island where no island should exist.
Unable to stop him from going, Sean's stepfather Hunk joins the quest. Along with Kailani's helicopter pilot father, the team set out to find the island, rescue its lone inhabitant and escape before seismic shockwaves force the island under the sea and bury its treasures forever.
Directed by Brad Peyton, "Journey 2" will hit the U.S. theaters on February 10.
