Calling the short cover 'terrific,' the original singer of 'Let's Stay Together' adds that the President 'nailed' the song.

AceShowbiz - Al Green has learned that President Barack Obama sang one of his classic singles, "Let's Stay Together", and he gives his thumbs-up to the Commander-in-chief. In a statement to TMZ, the music vet calls the cover "terrific" before adding praise, "He nailed it."

"I was thrilled that the President even mentioned my name," the 65-year-old musician gushed further, "And if the President can get the economy going again and get everything going that he wants to, then we'll all be together."

Obama did a short rendition of the song during a recent fundraiser at the Apollo Theater in New York City. "I...I'm so in love with you," he crooned, which was met with cheers from audience. He later jokingly said, "Don't worry Rev, I cannot sing like you, but I just wanted to show my appreciation."
