Asked if she ever imagined a possible future together with the late 'Dark Knight' star, the 'My Week with Marilyn' star answers through tears, 'It's actually one of my favorite places to visit.'
It has been nearly four years since Heath Ledger died of accidental overdose, but Michelle Williams still likes to think they would eventually find their way back to each other. The Golden Globe winner shared her thought on the matter in an interview for the February issue of GQ magazine.
Asked if she ever imagined they would somehow end up together, the "My Week with Marilyn" actress said, "That would make me way too sad to answer." As tears formed in her eyes, she explained, "I said it would make me too sad to answer but it's also...one of my favorite things to imagine." She added, "It's actually one of my favorite places to visit."
On why they were drawn to each other in the first place, the 31-year-old commented, "There's an answer that I know, but I don't want to say." Still, she added, "Our initial meeting, the circumstances of how we first met, were cosmic or something. Yeah, a lot of things happened at once. It's a bit like: We had a lot of things to do, because we didn't have a lot of time, or something."
Of the media attention that followed after Ledger's sudden passing in 2008, she said, "It was making me crazy. I felt like I was going crazy." She further explained, "It was too much - trying to deal with what had happened and trying to deal with what was at our doorstep. I just felt trapped."
"And it's not just me - there's somebody else who I'm trying to protect, and I can't. I can't make it stop, I can't make it go away. Trying to find ways to explain it or shield her from it. It's like you're trying to go about your life, and make dinner...but the roof is off of your house, and the walls are falling down."
