'Desperate Housewives' Actor Joins 'The Killing' Investigation

Mark Moses

Mark Moses is tapped to portray Lt. Carlson, a new detective at the Seattle police department, in season 2 of the AMC series.

"The Killing" will get an extra back-up to find the man behind Rosie Larsen's death. Mark Moses, who is well known for portraying Paul Young on "Desperate Housewives", has landed a major-arc role in the sophomore season of the AMC series.

Moses is cast as Lt. Carlson, a new detective at the Seattle police department who joins the investigation into Rosie's death. The character has been previously described as "a clean-cut, well-dressed lawman in his 50s who tends to keep tabs on which way the political winds are blowing."

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Moses will appear in at least 8 episodes of the drama series, which is adapted from Danish crime series "Forbrydelsen". The casting also marks his reunion with AMC after he played Peggy's lover and account services head Herman "Duck" Phillips on period drama "Mad Men".

"The Killing" will debut its second season in spring 2012. After keeping fans curious by not answering the burning question about Larsen's murderer in the first season finale, the show is said to introduce a new mystery at the beginning of new chapter before solving the Larsen case.
