The network has unveiled its 2012 midseason premiere schedule which enlists the start dates of 'The River' and 'Missing', but does not include 'Pan Am' and 'Man Up!'.

AceShowbiz - ABC has made a few changes in its plans ahead of the announcement of its 2012 midseason schedule. The network has cut 7 episodes from the third season of "Cougar Town", which was initially planned to consist of 22 episodes. The show's return is possibly delayed since it is missing from the midseason premiere line-up which was unveiled on Friday, November 18.
In contrary to "Cougar Town", "Body of Proof" gets an additional three-episode order which will bring the sophomore show to its full-season order of 20 episodes. Newbie "Pan Am", which has not been picked up for a full season, is also given one extra episode order to wrap its first season run with 14 outings, but Sony Pictures TV which produces the series has not agreed to the offer.
Despite the additional episode order, "Pan Am" is possibly not returning for another season since its slot is occupied by new comedy "GCB" (previously known as "Good Christian Belles") beginning March 4, 2012. This also affirms speculation that the period drama is canceled although the Alphabet has not made decision on the show.
Another show "Man Up!" is facing the same situation as "Pan Am". The comedy is replaced by new series "Work It" starting January 3. Reports say the male-centric show will end its run after 13 episodes, but ABC insists it has not canceled the show.
Meanwhile, another rookie "The River" will debut on February 7. As for Shonda Rhimes' new drama "Scandal" and fresh comedy "Apartment 23", their launch dates are yet to be known.
