"Prime Suspect" is close to receive its death sentence. After missing from NBC's 2012 midseason line-up, the show is now reported to end its production for good after wrapping up the 13th episode which will start filming this week.
A representative for the network said the NBC bosses are still "considering their options" on the Maria Bello-starring police procedural series. However, the cast were allegedly told that the rookie drama show is canceled just when the network unveiled its midseason schedule.
Based on the popular British series starring Helen Mirren, "Prime Suspect" got favorable reviews from critics. However, it has been struggling to gain viewers, averaging only 4.97 million audience and a 1.4 rating in adults 18-49 despite its coveted Thursday slot.

The only "really" good show, probably people just like garbage, and that is why this one doesnt reach the raitings... Is a shame.
I can't believe this show will be cancelled. I love, love, love it! It's really the only new show this season that I've bought into on any of the networks. Maria Bello is amazing, and I've never been familiar with her work until now. Please don't cancel it! I look forward to it every week!!
You mean to tell me that this show is canceled yet, 'I'm a Celebrity Get me Out of Here' and 'The Return of Fear Factor' sticks around!!!!! NBC network doesn't even know when they have quality TV. Damn shame!
Cancelling Prime Suspect is ridiculous! The program is one of the few I watch on the station and maybe if not in the same time slot as the Mentalist, other viewers would get the opportunity to see it.
