A new trailer for Luc Besson's biopic about Aung San Suu Kyi, "The Lady", has been released. Instead of highlighting Suu Kyi's political life, the trailer centers on the personal life of the female Burmese opposition leader. In the video, she must choose whether to go to England and nurse her dying husband or to stay in Myanmar and carry out the duty to fight for democracy.

Michelle Yeoh tackles the female lead in the political drama, while David Thewlis plays her husband, Michael Aris. The movie will follow the Nobel prize winner's life journey from housewife bringing up children in Oxford to taking on the power of Myanmar's generals by becoming opposition leader.

The story is set in between 1988, when Suu Kyi left Oxford to visit her sick mother and ended up staying, and 1999, the year when her beloved husband died after being diagnosed with cancer. Aris himself was forbidden from entering Myanmar, a decision that left Suu Kyi with the most impossible option of whether to stay or go.

The film was premiered at the 2011 Toronto International Film Festival on September 12. It will open in limited U.S. theaters on December 12. William Hope, Sahajak Boonthanakit, Teerawat Mulvilai, Antony Hickling are in the supporting cast ensemble.
