Though it has been known that Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays John Blake in "The Dark Knight Rises", there was not much info about his character. Recently, Cosmic Book News has learned new details of the character as well as a possible climatic battle scene in the much awaited comic-adapted movie.

According to the site, [SPOILER ALERT!] Blake is a rookie cop in Gotham City. He joins the police department as a part of the Batman Squad, a special group which aims to chase down Batman. The mission is "a joint implementation between Mayor Garcia and a reluctant Commissioner Gordon."

At the beginning of the movie, the Batman Squad intend to capture the Caped Crusader. However, as Bane and his mercenaries launch their attack and take over Gotham, the police force becomes "almost none existent."

Blake will not work together with the League of Shadows as it was rumored before. Instead, Gordon-Levitt's character is said to be a pro-active officer who is determined to fight Bane's mercenaries. Nonetheless, there's no police officer who dares to stand up against the evil league after Bane put Gordon in the hospital.

As Bane takes over Gotham, Batman returns (along with Matthew Modine's character). He inspires the rest of the cops to take back the city from Bane. It eventually triggers off smaller attacks on Bane's forces before an all out battle, which serves as the movie's climax, takes place. It is said that Batman, along with Catwoman, is "trying to stop Bane and a revealed Talia al Ghul from destroying the city and finishing her father's work of destroying Gotham."

Currently still in production in New York City, "The Dark Knight Rises" is directed by Christopher Nolan and is set to hit U.S. theaters on July 20, 2012. Christian Bale tackles the role of Batman, Nestor Carbonell plays Garcia, Gary Oldman stars as Gordon, while Anne Hathaway portrays Catwoman. The movie also stars Marion Cotillard, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and Juno Temple.
