New York City was sizzling hot on Wednesday, November 9 night. More than 30 gorgeous models strutted their stuff for the 2011 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show at the Lexington Avenue Armory, and the likes of Alessandra Ambrosio and other Angels heated up the runway with their skimpy yet elaborate outfits.
The annual show, which will air on CBS on November 29 at 10 P.M. ET/PT, was kicked off by Candice Swanepoel, who came out in a purple tutu and matching wings for a ballet-inspired section. When it segued into the "Passion" section, it was Ambrosio's turn to wow the crowd with her 30-pound pair of Passion Play Fan Wings, which took seven years to design and make.
Designed and made in Sydney by Manik Mercian, Ambrosio's copper wings are plated with 23-carat gold and are embellished with 105,000 Swarovski crystals. Of the prop, the supermodel said before the show, "It's definitely the heaviest wings they've ever made for Victoria's Secret. I tried to strengthen my back a little bit."
Fellow Angel Adriana Lima dazzled in sheer black number featuring beautiful black feathers, and model Anne Vyalitsina stunned in a push-up bra covered with a crystal-encrusted body overlay. But, the real show-stopper of the night was Miranda Kerr, who rocked a $2.5 million Fantasy Treasure Bra, during the aquatic section.
A total of 38 models graced the catwalk in 31 pairs of wings and 69 different outfits for this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Among those sashayed down the runway were Karlie Kloss, Doutzen Kroes, Erin Heatherton, Lily Aldridge, Chanel Iman and Lindsey Ellingson. Backstage photos of the models preparing for the show were shared earlier.
Kanye West, Maroon 5 and Nicki Minaj provided the music. Yeezy surprised the crowd by bringing Jay-Z to join him, Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine played escort to girlfriend Vyalitsyna before planting a kiss on her cheek, while Nicki brought her colorful style to the catwalk by donning bright orange bustier and cosmic-print skirt and leggings.
