One of the new cover songs has made its way out, featuring Chris Colfer, Cory Monteith, Lea Michele, Heather Morris, and Naya Rivera.
"Glee" continue their tradition to release a Christmas album every year when it's close to the holiday season. To help bring the joy with festive renditions of yuletide classics this year, they have tapped "The Glee Project" alumni for the new compilation project, in addition to gathering the regular cast.
Runner-ups Lindsay Pearce and Alex Newell are set to make a duet on "Do You Hear What I Hear?". Winner Damian McGinty will sing solo on "Blue Christmas", while fellow champ Samuel Larson will cover "Santa Claus Is Coming to Town" with Mark Salling and Cory Monteith.
The other cast who get solo sets are Amber Riley, Naya Rivera, Kevin McHale, Lea Michele and Heather Morris. In a respective order, they will cover "All I Want for Christmas Is You", "Santa Baby", "Little Drummer Boy", "River", and "Christmas Wrapping".
One of the songs from the upcoming album has been released online for a teaser. It's called "Do They Know It's Christmas", and features New Directions kids such as Chris Colfer, Jenna Ushkowitz, Cory, Amber, Lea, Kevin, Heather, Mark, and Naya.
Last year, "Glee" Christmas album bowed at No. 8 on Billboard Hot 200 by selling 161,000 copies in its opening week. The effort reached its peak position in its second week by moving up to the third place. Swapping places with Michael Jackson's self-titled album, it added another 160,000 units.
