Kaylani and Lisa were completely out of luck on "The Amazing Race". After almost leaving the competition soon after it was kicked off because Kaylani lost her passport at a gas station, the former Vegas showgirls got eliminated in the third leg which still took place in Indonesia.
In the October 9 episode, the remaining nine teams departed from Kraton Palace in Yogyakarta. They joined a group of bicycle riders and dressed in the costume from the Dutch colonial era. As the winner of last leg, Andy and Tommy started and finished the bike ride first to get their first clue, which told them to go to a restaurant in a village by taxi.
While Andy and Tommy headed to the next location, the other teams were still riding the bikes. Cindy got frustrated when Ernie's bike pedal fell off and they were sidelined waiting to get the pedal fixed while the other teams passed them by.
At the small village, the teams faced Detour where they could pick between Grass Fed or Rice Field. In Grass Fed, the contestants must pack up grass bags and carry sheep, while for the other challenge the teams must plant 300 rice seedlings.
Laurence and Zac, who chose Grass Fed, used more buckets than they were supposed to, so they got a 15-minute penalty. Meanwhile, Bill and Cathi as well as Amani and Marcus got trouble with the sheep. The latter team finally decided to give up on the sheep and take the other challenge.
After completing the Detour, the teams headed to an 8th century Buddhist temple where they faced Roadblock. Each of the teams must seek the Buddha statues, count them and remember their hand positions. Once they memorized them, they had to show the hand positions to a guy who gave the next clue.
All the teams were having difficulty with the challenge, but Andy and Tommy as well as Laurence and Zac could complete it first after they decided to work together. Andy and Tommy tried to help Amani and Marcus, who arrived last at the temple, by giving the answers but they did not listen carefully and forget them.
At the pit stop, Laurence and Zac arrived first but they must incur the penalty they got from Detour. Andy and Tommy came in second, but they were declared the winner and got a trip to Dubai, making Laurence and Zac as team number two.
Arriving later in respective orders were Jeremy and Sandy, Justin and Jennifer, Amani and Marcus, Bill and Cathi, Liz and Marie, Kaylani and Lisa. Kaylani and Lisa were eliminated for arriving the last, and Kaylani could not hide her sadness because she felt that she has disappointed her daughter.
Next week, the remaining eight teams will head to Thailand to continue the race.
