The studio is striking a deal to buy the rights to the late Apple co-founder's authorized bio by Walter Isaacson and has tapped Mark Gordon to produce the still untitled biopic project.

A biopic about the late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who has just passed away after losing battle to pancreatic cancer, is being planned. Sony Pictures has sealed a hefty deal to acquire the rights to Jobs' authorized bio by Walter Isaacson, the former CNN chairman and Time Magazine managing editor.

Although Sony has not made any official statement on the 448-page book deal, Deadline reported that the studio has agreed to pay only $1 million against $3 million to buy the legal rights. It is also said that the company has tapped Mark Gordon to serve as the producer for the untitled Steve Jobs biopic.

Isaacson's book is originally scheduled to be published by Simon & Schuster on November 21, but now the launch date has been moved to October 24. The book was first planned to be titled "iSteve: the Book of Jobs", but the author eventually persuaded the publisher to change it with a simple title, "Steve Jobs".

The book is based on more than 40 interviews with Jobs and over 100 chats with his friends, family members, colleagues and even competitors. Isaacson was hand-chosen by Jobs himself to capture his life while battling with cancer. Jobs reportedly let Isaacson to accompany him to his childhood home, although he wouldn't reveal too much of his personal life.
