"The Host (2013)" has got its release date. The forthcoming movie, which is based on a novel written by "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer, will grace cinemas across the United States on March 29, 2013.
Open Road Films, a joint venture of AMC Entertainment and Regal Entertainment, will distribute the fantasy sci-fi flick. Meanwhile, the production is scheduled for February 2012 in Louisiana and New Mexico.
"The Host" revolves around Melanie Stryder, one of the last human beings who fight against a harmful alien, Souls. She is later implanted by a Soul called Wanderer, something of a legend because of all of the "hosts" she has attached to on numerous planets.
Trying to get Melanie to give up the remaining pockets of humans, the alien instead finds her to be unique. Wanderer is so overwhelmed by Melanie's memories and feelings that the alien is driven to reconnect with Melanie's old life. Saoirse Ronan will star as the main character, with Andrew Niccol directing and providing the script.

Guys...there's hair dye and color contacts...Saoirse is a great actress and totally capable of Wanda/Mel.
Couldn't think of any other better than Saoirse Ronan to play the lead. I think she's just perfect for the role. 2013 is really a long way off and I can't wait to see the movie. I just hope it would turn out fine though, better even than the book if possible. :-)
i wish they would have chose someone else to play melanie/wanda like maggie grace or anyone else. they chose kristen stewart for twilight (she doesnt fit the part) and i think they should choose someone who fits the role in the Host (not saoirse)i agree, they should choose someone less known..
I do not think saoirse fits the part for melanie i think there are so much other female actors that would be alot better. i hope this doesn't ruin the film, not saying shes a bad actor, but i just cant connect her with the characters. hopefully the movie turns out great because im a big fan of the book!

I love the story so much!!I can't wait now!! 2013, not that far away now. It's almost 2012!! Can't wait! Oh i don't care who's the female main role actor is as long as her characteristics are something I can get along with!!

OMG cannot wait!! Dont know if that actress is best for the part of Mel, i would have thought someone tougher, like.. someone who hasnt been in much, not someone who is well known. Still cant wait! EEEEEK!!

OMG i'm so excited! i read the book 3 years ago and i just finished rereading it. i cant wait! kinda bumed abou who they chose to play mel/ wanderer but at least it's not kirsten stewert. at least saoirse can act. though i would have liked to see someone like ellen page play wanderer :/ anyways this movie is going to be EPIC!
Out of all the females that could be casted for the part, you pick one that does not even go with the description of Melanie! Saoirse Ronan would play better as pet, not Melanie. Aside from the casting, I do love the story and am excited to see it on film.
