Rebecca Gordon, a top-of-her-class trauma surgeon who is sent to a war zone, realizes nothing could prepare her for the job although she has read the manual.

AceShowbiz - A week shy of its premiere, new drama series "Combat Hospital" is previewed in a trailer. It follows Major Rebecca Gordon and Captain Bobby Trang who have just arrived in a war zone of Southern Afghanistan.

Portrayed by Michelle Borth, Rebecca is a top-of-her-class trauma surgeon who is eager to impress, before finally realizing that there are a lot of things in the field which are not mentioned in the manual. Bobby, played by Terry Chen, is thrown into the deep end as a Trauma Team Leader upon his arrival to the unit.

Helming the hospital on behalf of the Canadian Forces is Elias Koteas' Colonel Xavier Marks. Brilliant British neurosurgeon Dr. Simon Hill (Luke Mably) is the only non-military medical staffer in the hospital, while Commander Will Royal (Arnold Pinnock) is Chief of Nursing.

Overseeing the mental well being of the troops on their tour of duty is the Australian psychiatrist Major Grace Pederson (Deborah Kara Unger). As the doctors and nurses navigate the relentless life-and-death battles on the operating table, never-ending conflicts arise there.

"Combat Hospital" will debut on ABC on Tuesday, June 21.
