Josh Lucas Close to Take Lead Role on NBC's 'The Firm'

The 'Lincoln Lawyer' actor is in final negotiations to play Mitch McDeere in the small screen adaptation of Tom Cruise-starring film and John Grisham's novel.

NBC's "The Firm" may have found its Mitch McDeere in Josh Lucas. The 39-year-old is said in final negotiations to star on the drama series which is based on Tom Cruise-starring movie and John Grisham's best-selling novel of the same title.

The TV adaptation picks up a decade after the events in the film and novel. Having just emerged from the Federal Witness Protection program, Mitch now reclaims his family's lives and their future only to find that past dangers are still lurking and new threats are everywhere.

The network has ordered 22 episodes for the series, which is slated for mid-season airing. The project additionally nabs a post-football spot on Sunday evenings, with the two-hour pilot script written by Lukas Reiter.

"The Firm" is produced by Entertainment One in association with Sony Pictures TV Networks and Paramount Pictures. Reiter, Grisham, John Morayniss, Michael Rosenberg and Noreen Halpern serve as executive producers.

The series will mark the first regular series role for Lucas, who was recently seen in "Life as We Know It" and "The Lincoln Lawyer". He will next be seen starring opposite Leonardo DiCaprio in Clint Eastwood's "J. Edgar".
