Timur Bekmambetov Reaches No Deal in Zombie Film 'Maggie'

Although it was reported that the director had acquired the right of the low-budget movie, no deal came out of the consequent talks.

There's a major setback in the development of zombie movie "Maggie". Earlier this month, it was reported that the John Scott-penned script was picked up for production under Timur Bekmambetov's PH. However, it has just emerged that the film is back on the market because the negotiation ended without a deal.

"Maggie" was thought having a huge potential of becoming a movie hit with its moderately low budget and zombie appeal. It revolves around a 16-year-old teenage girl from a town in middle America who is infected by zombie as the world is plagued with the virus. Not the typical flesh-eating zombie movie, "Maggie" concentrates on her six-week transformation and her family's dilemma.

Set under $5 million budget, "Maggie" was to be directed by vfx expert Henry Hobson and co-produced by Trevor Kaufman and Bekmambetov. The film had a lot of bidders when it was first opened to the market, meaning it could get a new producer as soon as possible.
