New Superman movie is currently looking for the female lead and some new names emerge in the hunt. Words are, Alice Eve ("She's Out of My League"), Diane Kruger ("Inglourious Basterds") and Rosamund Pike ("Barney's Version") are contenders to star in the project tentatively called "The Man of Steel", but not as Lois Lane.

While the role possibly tackled by one of them is still undisclosed, The Playlist suggests that they might be seen as Cat Grant since the three beauties have blonde hair color which is similar to the character. Cat is a gossip columnist at The Daily Planet and was a love interest for Clark Kent, creating a sort of love triangle involving her, Clark and Lois.

As for Lois, there have been reports that Kristen Stewart, Jessica Biel, Rachel McAdams, Dianna Agron, Malin Akerman, Olivia Wilde and Mila Kunis. Kunis' "Black Swan" co-star Kristina Anapau is recently added to the shortlist after she hints that she is in the running. "It's a great character and a great project. I'd love to be a part of it," she tells Comic Book Movie.

A rep for Stewart, however, has denied rumor that the "Twilight" actress was offered the part but then rejected it. "The fact is that she has not met (producers of) this film nor has she been approached for this film," the rep stated.

The next Superman film which will be directed by Zack Snyder has tapped Henry Cavill to tackle the lead role of Clark Kent. Christopher Nolan is producing alongside Emma Thomas, Charles Roven and Deborah Snyder. No release date is announced for the movie, but it is believed that Warner Bros. Pictures will aim for a December 2012 release.
