Beloved alumna of "Criminal Minds" will return for an episode this Spring. A.J. Cook, whose departure from the CBS series last Fall invited protests among show's fans, will reprise her role as Jennifer "J.J." Jareau in an episode directed by Matthew Gray Gubler.

Cook confirmed via Twitter, writing "Heading back to Criminal Minds for @pagetpaget final episode. @GUBLERNATION is directing. It's going to be GOOD/WEIRD/SAD!!!" Paget Brewster who has been with the show for almost five years is not returning to the series as well, replaced by a new agent played by Rachel Nichols.

The exit story of Brewster's Emily has been paved since last week when she was informed that a criminal she put away during her days with Interpol had escaped. It is unclear how J.J. would jump in the story. The last time she was seen, J.J. joined the government's Defense Department.

JJ is missed on CM's. Now Emily, what is going on? The cast was great and it is being down sided by these two leaving. Think again, is not the goal to be successful......Is this the path to a continuing winner?

This show is great. This series was almost cancelled but brought back up by these two girls. CBS is stupid.

Like many here I really miss JJ on the show. I am going to miss Paget as well. I am not a fan of the new blonde agent. Doesn't seem to mesh with the team or bring anything useful at this time. I am baffled by CBS's decision to pull JJ and Paget from the show? They was a great team together and I liked the little snippets of information expanding more about the characters outside lives. I hope this doesn't result in the demise of a show I have really enjoyed for many seasons?

i dont know why everyone is being so judgemental you havent even seen anything yet for all we know this will be great for the show just because the cast is slightly changing doesnt mean that it is going to be horrible now

well there goes my friday night television must. CBS need to get their heads out of their butts and make a GOOD decision for once. Like bringing them back.

I totally agree with everyone, once Emily leaves I will not be watching CM anymore. There goes my Wednesday night. It was the only Prime Time show I watched.

It seems the majority of viewers believe CBS is making a mistake by letting A.J. Cook and Paget Brewster go. The show had a winning team, a great cast that drew the viewer in and made the viewer care about each character. Now I'm just ticked off that the powers that be could be so cavalier about their fan base. The new actors just don't measure up.

Why change a cast that works great and draws viewers?

I hate the new agent and I agree with some of the other comments that getting rid of JJ and Emily are big mistakes.

Why is CBS messing with a winning cast? With Paget Brewster's departure, Criminal Minds has jumped the shark. As for the spinoff series, not even interested.

JJ didn't join the defense dept. She's part of FBI liaison office to the defense dept.

After Paget leaves, I won't be watching Criminal Minds anymore. CBS just ruined another series, thank you so much.

Paget is the best actor on the show. I can't understand why the insist on removing all the good characters. Unlike other shows, criminal minds was still running strong in their 6th edition. That however, will change soon

FIRST, you send away JJ, and keep Emily. NOW, JJ comes back, and Emily goes away! Why the hell don't they understand CM cannot be the same without them both??! Damn. It's frustrating. With all due respect to Seaver's character..... I think I'm not gonna accept her presence in the team, even though Rachel Nichols' not a bad actress herself.

I also Love Paget and JJ, the chemistry of the entire group works. Wrong move as far as I'm concerned, but I am just a loyal

I LOVE PAGET. So sad to see her go. CBS what are you doing to this great show? They constantly are up there in ratings on Wednesday night. CBS - if it ain't broke, don't break it!
