Cannes Festival's Winner 'Of Gods and Men' Gets New Trailer
Movie

Trappist monks are facing the risk of being killed as they insist on staying in their monastery without military protection despite the war in the country.

AceShowbiz - A new trailer for French film "Of Gods and Men" has been debuted via Apple. Sharing the threat faced by Christian monks, the video emphasizes more on their persistent decision to stay in their monastery despite the fear of attack from an Islamic fundamentalist group.

The film centers its story on the monastery of Tibhirine, where Trappist monks lived in harmony with the largely Muslim population of Algeria in the 1990s. When a crew of foreign workers is massacred by an Islamic fundamentalist group, fear sweeps through the region. The army offers them protection, but the monks refuse.

Despite the growing menace in their midst, they slowly realize that they have no choice but to stay... come what may. Loosely based on a true story, the screenplay focuses on the time leading up to their death.

"Of Gods and Men" is directed by Xavier Beauvois with a script written by Etienne Comar. It was premeired at 2010 Cannes Film Festival where it won the Grand Prix. Having been commercial success in its domestic market, the drama will hit limited U.S. theaters on February 25.
