'They never had a chance to win that money. Ever. No matter what. They got the last question wrong,' host Kevin Pollak explains about the situation.

Last week, Gabe Okoye and Brittany Matyi, who lost $800,000 in "Million Dollar Money Drop", were invited back to the game show. It was revealed that their answer for a question given by host Kevin Pollak had been wrongly deemed incorrect.

The couple risked the money on one question, "Which product was sold in stores first, the Macintosh computer, the Post-It Note, or the Sony Walkman?" Gabe confidently chose "post-it notes", but they were told that Walkman came out a year before the post-it notes.

In fixing the error, Fox released a statement, "Unfortunately, the information our research department originally obtained from 3M regarding when Post-it notes were first sold was incomplete. As a result of new information we have received from 3M, we feel it is only fair to give our contestants, Gabe and Brittany, another shot to play Million Dollar Money Drop."

In response to the invitation, Gabe had this to say, "If they decide to [give us the money] then that's their decision, if not, then, you know, it is what it is." He added, "Honestly, it was a lot of money - you start thinking about what you could do with it, trying to help the family out. That's really what we wanted to do with it, is just help our families out."

However, Fox declined to give back the money, insisting the final question in the game is always all-or-nothing and they got it wrong anyway. "They never had a chance to win that money. Ever. No matter what," Pollak told The Hollywood Reporter. "They got the last question wrong. None of the clips [on the web] show the last question."

He is keen to have Gabe and Brittany back on the show, but disappointed about their hesitance. "I say right on," he said. "But now they are saying there's too much pressure? Oh my God! Way to get the country to turn against you. That's interesting, they would make such a stink and then ultimately maybe not come back."

@thegorsb The question AFTER they lost the 800,000 is an all or nothing question and they got that question wrong. They would have lost it ANYWAY.

Umm YEAH! they did get the last question right FOX made a mistake and admitted they were wrong that's what this whole story is about and they were confused or whatever when they were incorrectly told they were wrong. Fox Is a clearly a greedy corp. who consider blacks to be idiots. There's no point in starting were they left off, 'cos they won the million, plain and simple. Fox would have looked better if they paid up. But the idea of these shows is that people come close and don't get the top prize. That whole suspense thing. How many K's in fox?

It was not racist. To all those who claim tha I hope you hop back into your time machine and rejoin the 80s, where the race card was accepted. This is a money thing and FOX will look bad for denying them any consolation prize. FOX looks like the greedy corp. that it is. They look bad as well for not going back on the show, like the cowardly litte people they are.

They got the last question wrong because he did not care if they won after losing all that money. His hype for the game went down the crapper as soon as the money dropped.

I think they should let them come back and start where they left off..

Yeah I can't stand these stupid PC liberals. Trying to ruin the world with their whole minority rules, rights crap. I judge people on who they are, not what they are. I don’t think that just because I’m white, I’m better than a random black person and personally I want to have white babies. That’s not to say there are no hot blacks around (which there are). That’s just the way I feel. Independent1 you’re quite right, fox are a pack prejudiced bigots. When referring to fox being racist I was talking about the people who decided to not give the couple their money when they got the question right and the producers admitted it. Probably thinking because the couple was black (and thinking therefore that they are stupid or something) they could get away with it. R.M = Rupert Murdoch. And if I lived in the USA I’d vote TEA PARTY. I live in New Zealqnd and saw the story on the news. The education here especially government, is over powered by Political Correctness.

Give, give, give… typical of democrats, always wanting someone to “Give”… it’s a game, they should “win” it, and it’s not the contestant’s money yet. Sure there was an error, but let them come back to the point where the mistake happened. Blanket statements indicate the lack of intelligence, lack of integrity? Really, so all programming on Fox lack integrity? As for Racist… Define the word racist… the original meaning meant, someone who thinks their race is genetically superior to all other races. How can a company be racist? It can’t, Only individuals can be. Most morons confuse racist with bigotry or prejudice, but I accept that some people are just government educated drones… Too many are just happily clueless. As for the statement, “republican net work to cheat and steel (sic) like the party they supported in political arena” really… and democrats are angels, give me a break, both parties are pathetic, but of course, your biases shines through.

I watched the show. Yes, he was correct on the question but why doesn't he remember that he got the last question wrong. So he would of lost all the money on the last question. He should go back on the show and try to win some money. This gameshow is not racist. I wouldn't of paid him the money either. Again, he got the last question wrong. He is entertaining on 15 minutes of fame and should be ashamed of himself trying to make this show seemed like they do not want to give him the money and when he did not win the money at all. Selective memory is not a good thing.

They need to let them start back where they left off. Also, give them something for their time.

Typical for FOX the republican net work to cheat and steel like the party they supported in political arena. Clear to the public that they have no moral and willingly to steel in front of national viewers.

give them the money to do a do over where they were in the game. did you ever think they may have gotten the last one wrong as it was a huge shock to lose over 840k? It's only fair, let them go from the 3 drops with new questions. it is the FAIR and RIGHT thing to do. or i will start a boycott of fox network...and I know alot of people....dang it.
