Once again, Dexter is pursued by time when it comes to finishing his killer job and stumbles upon a blockage by the name of family.
"Dexter" is heading to another end and people are wondering whether it can top off last season's shocking finale. In this one, Dexter's situation grows desperate when he discovers that Lumen's been set up. Despite knowing he's being baited into a trap, Dexter risks everything to make sure he doesn't fall into the same mistake again.
One of the clips released as sneak peek to the finale shows a phone conversation between Dexter and Jordan, the latter who knows what runs through Dexter's mind and brings back the subject of Rita. The second clip reveals Dexter's family plan including Astor and Cody's wish to stay with him during summer.
Meanwhile in the Barrel Girls case, Debra lets her personal feelings lead her instincts once she concludes that vigilantes are more than just a theory. Quinn finds himself in a troublesome situation, which only Dexter can help him out of.
Executive producer Sara Colleton has promised that the fifth season finale is going to be "big". She said, "When you see the episode, you'll realize what a great title it is." Then she hinted, "[It will ask the question,] 'Wouldn't it be nice if you could escape from your life?' "
Julia Stiles who plays Lumen also admitted that she was shocked by the ending, saying "All I can say is that I was shocked when I read where Lumen ends up. And I think it is very different from anything that's ever happened to Dexter before."
"The Big One" airs December 12 on Showtime. Although not yet formally announced, the cable has renewed the show for a sixth season.
