The likes of Natalie Portman, Carey Mulligan, Ellen Page, Mia Wasikowska and Emily Browning were also rumored among the contenders, but they had been passed earlier.
Along with Mara's casting, Sony Pictures has also confirmed report that Daniel Craig joins the upcoming drama thriller. The depicter of James Bond in "Casino Royale" will be seen playing Mikael Blomkvist, the investigative journalist and part owner of the magazine Millennium.
