Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough's Engagement Report Is 'Not True'

Cheryl Cole, Derek Hough

A source close to Cheryl has debunked rumor mentioning Derek has proposed to her when the Girls Aloud star was at hospital, insisting that the story is 'not true.'

Cheryl Cole and Derek Hough might be getting closer lately but they're not planning for the next best thing yet. Report recently suggested that Derek has asked Cheryl's hand in marriage but a friend close to the Girls Aloud star dismissed the story, telling Gossip Cop that it is "not true."

The engagement story was first reported by National Enquirer. With the headline read "Derek's Got Right Cure For Cheryl", the publication claimed Derek proposed to Cheryl at a London hospital where Cheryl had been treated for malaria. The publication further reported Cheryl "was too sick to talk, but nodded her head 'yes'."

While the friend has debunked story that Cheryl, who is currently resting at her mansion in Surrey, and Derek were engaged, another report still swirls. Britain's The Sun recently reported that Cheryl and Derek have moved in together. The two allegedly stay at Cheryl's home so that Derek could help her back to full health.

Martina, get a life. Derek's a big boy and he can take care of himself. He doesn't need psycho fans like you to defend him. This is Hollywood. No matter what you say, there will always be people who don't like him and there will always be some negativity against him. They make lots of rumors about him because he's very popular and well known. The more popular the celeb is, the more they will get negativity and tabloids writing trash about him. If you're so worried about him getting so much negativity then maybe he shouldn't be so popular anymore. Maybe he should quit DWTS and stay out of the spotlight so people won't have to talk about him.

I've never posted until day on any website, but I'm a huge fan here in the U.S. of Derek Hough, and I want to defend him against all the vicious gossip printed in the tabloids. I thought the U.S. tabloids were bad about printing false information, but I do believe the British tabloids are worse. I would strongly suggest to tabloid writers and to people who comment that they take the time to do some research in reliable articles about Derek. If you do, you'll find that he's not gay, he well-known here in the states (Cheryl isn't), he's a very talented dancer, singer, and musician (Ballas/Hough Band) with some hit singles, and he's a true gentleman which is why some of his fans here are surprised he's gotten involved in the whole Cheryl/divorce scandal. I worry that all the negative media hype driven by inaccurate stories written about him will turn the public against him. Derek's a nice person who deserves better; especially better than the nasty comment before mine on this website to whom I would say... Are using only four-letter profane words the limit of your IQ?
