The Los Angeles County Coroner says that Simon died from pneumonia and severe anemia, which also caused the actress' death five months earlier.

AceShowbiz - The Los Angeles County Coroner has revealed the cause of death of Brittany Murphy's husband Simon Monjack. CNN reported that Simon died from pneumonia and severe anemia, the same two causes of the "Uptown Girls" star's death.

"Just like Brittany," Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter confirmed, referring to Brittany, who died five months earlier before Simon. Winter further revealed that some prescription drugs were detected in his system, but not in lethal levels. Winter added, due to Simon's family's request, one more test will be conducted before a full autopsy report is released in about two weeks.

Simon's family was advised of the cause of death by the L.A. County Coroner's Office on Wednesday morning, July 21. Brittany's mother Sharon Murphy, in the meantime, has since issued a statement, saying "I am still in shock and mourning over the deaths of my daughter Brittany and son-in-law Simon."

"It is with great relief that Simon's preliminary autopsy findings have been released, so the media speculations can stop," the statement further read. "As I was sure of, just like my daughter Brittany there was no kind of drug overdose."

Simon Monjack was found dead at his Hollywood home on May 23 at around 9:30 P.M., while his wife Brittany Murphy passed away on December 20, 2009. At that time, Simon's cause of death was suggested because of heart attack.
