The first trailer to Hilary Swank's latest starring vehicle "Conviction" has been debuted via Apple. The drama is said to be Oscar-worthy for the touching story, the acting chops by Swank and Sam Rockwell as well as the attempt to use New England accent.
Based on a true story, the film centers on Swank's Betty Anne Waters, a single mother whose brother was wrongfully convicted for a murder. For the love of her sibling, she works her way through the law school to prove her brother's innocence and finally free him, all done in 16 long years.
Waters, who is a high school dropout, believes that Kenneth is framed. Instead of hiring lawyers, she chooses to represent him herself after he'd used up his attempts to appeal his conviction through public defenders. In the process of acquiring her GED, she loses time to make friends and live her life.
Coming from Fox Searchlight Pictures, the drama hits limited theaters October 15 in the U.S. It is directed by Tony Goldwin who has directed a lot of TV series like "Dexter", using the script by "Music of the Heart" scribe Pamela Gray.
