Universal Pictures has teased Zac Efron's fans with a new featurette from "Charlie St. Cloud". Debuted by Hulu, the video features the lead actor, who provides commentaries about the film and explains the storyline from his point of view, as well as some never-before-seen footage.
Efron explains he is excited to be involved in the upcoming movie because it's "different", claiming "It's a lot more adventurous and real". He later states the film has complete elements as it contains both romantic and supernatural things.
In the film, Efron plays accomplished sailor Charlie St. Cloud who has a bright future which is cut short when a tragedy that costs him his brother's life strikes and takes his dreams with it. As he meets high-school classmate Tess again and falls in love with her, Charlie is torn between honoring a promise he made four years earlier and moving forward with newfound love.
Amanda Crew stars opposite Efron as his on-screen lover, while Charlie Tahan and Kim Basinger play his little brother Sam and his mother Claire respectively. Burr Steers serves behind the lens for this drama, which is set for July 30 release in the U.S.

I have read the book and when I first saw the trailer I wondered if there had been a change in that same respect. I hope not. As you said that was a huge part of the story and explained a lot as far as Charlie was concerned.

From this featurette, I'm really wondering what they've done to change the book as it applies to Tess. Don't want to say too much and spoil it for people. Those of you who have read the book, what do you think? It does't seem that things are the same when Charlie first meets Tess. That is a huge part of the whole story, and quite a twist, so I certainly hope that they haven't gone and screwed that up. I wonder how much input Ben Sherwood had.
