Soon after it was reported that Naomi Watts will play Marilyn Monroe in upcoming "Blonde", a photo of her in the new biopic has emerged. The said image was debuted at the Cannes Film Festival which is currently held in France, and French website Allocine managed to snap a look at the promo picture.
In the photo, Watts is featured sporting a short wavy blonde hair and wearing a white dress to resemble the late actress/singer. She is additionally seen posing seductively while standing against a wall.
"Blonde" is an adaptation of Joyce Carol Oates' imaginary Marilyn Monroe memoir. The film will trace her journey from the child Norma Jeane to the worldwide sex symbol, and her tragic death aged 36 in 1962. It additionally will highlight her relationships with various famous men, including John F. Kennedy and Joe Dimaggio.
Shooting is expected to begin in January 2011 with Andrew Dominik tapped to serve behind the cameras. The drama film is scheduled for 2012 release in the U.S.
