The Disney starlet is taking a college girl role in The CW's new series which may or may not debut this Fall.
From Disney Channel, Ashley Tisdale takes a step up to star in a The CW production. The "High School Musical" star has been tapped to join a drama comedy titled "Hellcats" which comes from the production of Tom Welling of "Smallville" and Kevin Murphy of "Caprica".
"Hellcats" is one of the six dramas that The CW plan to air this Fall. It focuses on the competitive world of college cheerleading. Alyson Michalka from the band 78violet leads as a college girl named Marti who joins the cheerleading team after suffering from major mishaps in her life such as losing a scholarship due to budget cutbacks and an irresponsible mother.
Tisdale is to take the role of Sierra, the "fiercely intense" captain of Hellcats who has an initial clash with Marti before she realizes that the newbie could actually help the team winning the championship. Beside Michalka and Tisdale, Gail O'Grady joins the series as Marti's mother.
Other dramas that "Hellcats" will have to compete with for a slot in Fall are "Betwixt", "Nikita", "Nomads", an untitled project by Amy Holden Jones and an untitled project about a family living in a horse farm.
