Marc Webb is set to work behind the lens of an upcoming "Spider-Man" film. Following rumor that his name has been put on the top of list of the possible director for the untitled Spider-Man reboot, the 34-year-old has been confirmed to tackle the said job.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Webb, who has options on two sequels, will start shooting the film soon with a script written by Jamie Vanderbilt. The story will focus on Spider-Man's alter ego Peter Parker during his high school age. Columbia Pictures eyes summer 2012 release date for this Avi Arad and Laura Ziskin-produced film.

Before making his feature length debut when directing romantic comedy "500 Days of Summer", Marc Webb has directed music videos of several musicians including Green Day, The All-American Rejects and Miley Cyrus. He was previously set to work on some of Fox's projects, but the studio has allowed him to bow out of his commitment so that he could make a deal with Columbia.
