No Foul Play in Brittany Murphy's Death, Autopsy to Be Performed Soon

Autopsy is planned to be conducted on Monday, December 21 to determine the cause of her death, but it is said there is no foul play in the case.

County Coroner's Office to determine Brittany Murphy's cause of death, but an official has informed People no foul play is suspected in the case. "Foul play is not suspected at this time because there were no outward signs of trauma or other injuries," explains coroner's Capt. John Kades.

Autopsy, in the meantime, is promised to be conducted as soon as possible. "We don't have an autopsy scheduled yet, but we will do it as soon as possible," Kades says in a statement. "Given all the worldwide attention, if we can get it done [Monday], we will."

Brittany Murphy was found unconscious by her mother Sharon in the shower at the home that belongs to her screenwriter husband Simon Monjack. Paramedics who were called to the scene immediately gave the actress CPR, but failed. The 32-year-old film star was pronounced dead at 10:04 A.M. upon arriving at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, which is several miles away from Monjack's house.
