'True Blood' Finds Vampire Mott and Moms for Lafayette and Sam
TV

Emmy-winning actress Alfre Woodward is on board the vampire series as Lafayette's mom, joining J. Smith-Cameron as Sam's mom and James Frain as Franklin Mott.

AceShowbiz - The third season of "True Blood" starts to take shape with the announcement of several actors to fill in the new roles. First of all, Lafayette gets a mom in Emmy-winning actress Alfre Woodward, meaning his cousin Tara will get a visit from her aunt. Her character and how she would incorporate to the story are not disclosed. Creator Alan Ball is not following the book by Charlaine Harris as Lafayette is supposed to have died in book 1.

Not only Lafayette, Sam will have his family exposed. After it was announced that Marshall Allman would tackle the role as his younger brother named Tommy Mickens, it is revealed that Tony-nominated actress J. Smith-Cameron will play the recurring role as Melinda Mickens. Described as "dirt-poor, hung-over and trashy-looking", Melinda is slated to appear in the second episode.

Another new blood added to the cast is James Frain. Known for his role on "The Tudors", Frain is to portray vampire Franklin Mott. The casting call said that Mott is sexy in his own way and has "an immediate and torrid connection" to Tara after meeting her at a local bar. Like Melinda, Mott will appear in the second episode as heavily recurring character.

So far the show has had several actors attached to play new characters. Denis O'Hare would be King of Mississippi, Grant Bowler to be Cooter, Theo Alexander as vampire Talbot, and Shannon Lucio as Bill's first wife.

The show is still looking for Melinda's husband Joe, a hauntingly beautiful woman named Crystal, bikers Louie, Gus and Jimmy, a hot gay Latino named Jesus Velasquez, a werewolf named Alcide, new dancer at Fangtasia, Reverend Daniels, NYU grads for Jason's threesome partners, elderly woman named Olivia and African American couple Betty and Marvin.

"True Blood" season 3 begins in June 2010.
