ABC and the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) would like to set apart the difference between sexual orientation and a performance that could jeopardize a broadcasting right. The network and the organization have agreed that Adam Lambert's American Music Awards performance has nothing to do with him being gay.
GLAAD said that they have spoken to ABC several times to discuss the issue that Adam is being held to double standard. Summarizing the result in a statement, the organization said, "It would appear that the kiss between Adam Lambert and his keyboardist did not factor into ABC's decision. ABC has a history of positive gay and transgender inclusion that includes featuring kisses between gay and lesbian couples on-air."
In return ABC stated, "Given the live nature of the American Music Awards, Adam Lambert's performance, which differed greatly from his rehearsal, caught many, including the network, off guard. This is not a question of Lambert's sexual orientation. As is evidenced by GLAAD's media report card, ABC is at the forefront of positive gay and lesbian portrayal on television. We welcome openly gay performers and look forward to continuing our great work within the LGBT community."
Adam Lambert gave a sexually-charged performance at the November event, simulating an oral sex and kissing his male keyboardist in the lips. ABC canceled a scheduled outdoor performance of him on "Good Morning America" the following morning for fear that his impromptu doesn't fit such an early show.
GLAAD immediately issued a statement, saying "It is disappointing that 'Good Morning America' did not give Adam Lambert the opportunity to tailor his performance to their audience, as he did on their show in August 2009," when he performed the Muse cover "Starlight."
Earlier this week, Adam was snubbed from "Jimmy Kimmel Live!", being replaced by Allison Iraheta. However, he appeared on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this week and is due to pop up on "The Jay Leno Show" on December 21.

When the hell did people get so goddam lazy that they can't reach for the remote to change the channel if they don't like what they are watching? Enough already. Adam's performance was okay but wasn't his best, but I wasn't offended by his performance nor was I shocked.
what ever happend to moral standards in TV, and you wonder why people are oppose to gay marrige, just look at this gay idiot dancing around thinking he's a rock star... Kids dont need to see this kinda of crap and thats what it is, CRAP!
double standard indeed- ABC is scared of a homosexual artist, and terrified their precious sponsors might leave. why not replace them with gay friendly sponsors?
Of course he was canceled because of the sexual nature of the performance....who are they kidding... I did't like the Brittany and MaDonna kiss either. In both of these cases the kisses were for SHOCK value and not because they are or aren't gay...So they should expect fallout. Just sing people that is what you are good at...
