Jake Gyllenhaal is a step closer to land a role in "Source Code". According to Variety, the actor, who will be seen starring as Prince Dastan in upcoming movie "Prince of Persia: Sands of Time", has been in negotiations with Vendome Pictures and the Mark Gordon Co. to star in the sci-fi film. However, as of the press time there has been no word on the character that will possibly be portrayed by the 28-year-old star.
If Gyllenhaal signs on for "Source Code", he is likely to work together with Duncan Jones. The British filmmaker, who is best known for directing Sam Rockwell-starred movie "Moon", is currently attached to helm the 2011 thriller film, replacing Shane Abbess who was tapped to take the respective duty last year.
Penned by Ben Ripley, "Source Code" is said to center on a soldier who wakes up in the body of an unknown commuter and is forced to solve the mystery of a train explosion as well as to figure out who is responsible for the incident. The project was first developed in 2007 by Universal Pictures while the production is planned to be kicked off during the first quarter of 2010.
