The preview gives a tease on the person who comes sneaking on the fridge of the Walkers family and brings back the tension in the family dinner.

In the throes of chemotherapy, Kitty is thrilled when a surprise visitor comes to town. Tommy who was last seen in the third season finale refusing his family's help to come back to the United States, is making a return on the November 1 episode of "Brothers & Sisters" titled "Zen & the Art of Making Mole".

Meanwhile, Sarah finally realizes that she has to tell her kids about Luc (guest star Gilles Marini). With Ryan and Rebecca's help, Holly finds a way to keep her financial future from unraveling, and Kevin and Scotty finally agree on a possible surrogate (guest star Roxy Olin).

The decision to eliminate Balthazar Getty as a regular on the show is rooting from the thought that there was nothing else to be done with his character Tommy. He was absent from several episodes in season 3 only to return for the finale in May. Executive Producer Alison Schapker once said that "Tommy is in no way permanently gone" and that there is a "logical end to this year's story" which will bring him back in a different way.

I think the show has been amazing this year specifically because Tommy has been missing. He adds nothing to the show for me. Good Riddance!

Great episode. The best of the new season, mainly because we finally get to see the Walkers interact as a family again. The writers made a big mistake by dropping Tommy from the cast. Even worse, they pollute the show with lots of characters nobody cares about. Really, who cares if Holly or Ryan destroy Ojai? Those two need to go away... Sally Field and Calista and Balthazar were awesome last night. I loved all their scenes, and hope he comes back and stays.

even if there is nothing left to do with his character, it is tough to just drop one of the siblings on a family series so early on in the show's run and not have it be noticeable for months, or even seasons...hopefully he does return for good at some point this year...

Fantastic! The show's chemistry isn't the same without him. I've been a fan of the show from the start and will stand by my belief that it is the best written show on television. A large part of that is attributed to the way we were allowed to connect with "the Walker's" as a family unit, each having their own quirks and hang-ups that allowed them to relate differently to one another. you can't kill off a family member and expect not to feel that their is something missing...
