Getting 3-D Treatment, 'The Cabin in the Woods' Pushed to Early 2011

As the Joss Whedon-scripted horror movie is set to come out almost a year later than the original schedule, MGM will use the time to convert it into 3-D.

MGM Studios has delayed the theatrical release of "" for nearly a year. Shock Till You Drop (STYD) reported that the horror movie which was originally slated for release in cinemas across the U.S. on February 5, 2010, has been pushed to a new date in 2011 for a 3-D treatment.

"Cabin" will make its debut over the Martin Luther King, Jr. Day weekend, on January 14 to be exact. It means that the movie directed by "" screenwriter Drew Goddard will open in theaters a week before the fourth "Underworld" movie, "", is scheduled to come out.

As for the reason behind the move, MGM reps explained, as reported by STYD, that the early response to the film has been phenomenal and prompted the studio to give it a 3-D treatment. MGM is expected to spend six months or so converting "Cabin" to 3-D.

"The Cabin in the Woods" will offer a twisted and unusual take on the familiar "cabin in the woods" formula. "" actor , "" actor , and "" leading man are among the cast ensemble.
